BookWell is proud to announce that Shawn Yang, CEO of BookWell, has received the Emerging Leader Award for Technology Innovation at the 2026 Australia–China Business & Emerging Leaders Gala, held in Sydney on 31 October 2026.

The recognition celebrates Shawn's leadership and contribution to technology innovation, as well as BookWell's ongoing commitment to harnessing artificial intelligence to transform the future of accounting and financial services.

Celebrating Australia's Next Generation of Emerging Leaders

The prestigious gala brought together approximately 500 representatives from Australian politics, business, multicultural communities and emerging entrepreneurial networks. The evening recognised the achievements of the Top 30 Emerging Leaders, alongside 12 individual industry award recipients.

Distinguished guests included Mark Coure, NSW Shadow Minister for Multiculturalism, and Sylvia Alafaci, Deputy Mayor of the City of Canada Bay, reflecting the strong support for entrepreneurship, multicultural engagement and business innovation across Australia.

Alex Yang, Burwood City Councillor, delivered remarks on behalf of the Mayor of Burwood, highlighting the important role of multicultural communities in Australia's development, the need to nurture young talent and the value of strengthening partnerships between local government and businesses.

Dr Frank Alafaci, Chairman of the Australian Business Summit Council, also addressed the gathering, sharing his perspectives on emerging leadership, multicultural development, business innovation and international trade cooperation.

Further recognition came through formal congratulatory messages from Kellie Sloane, NSW Liberal Leader, and Nicolette Boele, Federal Member for Bradfield, acknowledging the achievements and contributions of the award recipients.

Technology Innovation with a Purpose

For BookWell, this award represents more than an individual achievement. It reflects the collective vision and dedication of our team to making artificial intelligence practical, accessible and valuable for Australian businesses.

We believe the future of finance is not about replacing people with technology. It is about empowering professionals, removing repetitive administrative work and enabling businesses and accounting firms to achieve more with greater efficiency.

Through intelligent automation and our growing AI capabilities, BookWell is working towards a new model of financial services — one where technology supports human expertise, expands professional capacity and makes quality financial services more accessible.

Building the AI Finance Workforce

As BookWell continues developing its vision of the AI Finance Workforce, our mission remains clear: to democratise access to AI technology and help Australian accounting firms and businesses grow without being constrained by traditional labour and operational costs.

We see AI not simply as another software tool, but as a new workforce capability — one that works alongside people, supports professional judgement and creates opportunities for businesses of all sizes.

This recognition further encourages us to continue pushing the boundaries of innovation and delivering meaningful value to the Australian business community.

Congratulations to all the 2026 award recipients and emerging leaders.
